Proposed commercial marina in South Thomson

The draft RIMP tells us that the RIA is interested in a feasibility study of a commercial marina related to the Army Jetty in South Thomson Bay.  We did a check of marinas along the mainland metropolitan coast and discovered approximate areas for a 200-pen marina and a 500-pen marina.

There was no idea at all of the possible size of such a marina - or of how many boats it might cater for.

Challenger Harbour in Fremantle has approximately 200 pens and has an approximate area as shown in this picture. Note its scale in relation to the Army Jetty

All coastal marinas have a sea wall.

A marina in South Thomson would also require a sea wall.

Such a marina is likely to require dredging.

What would this mean for Thomson Bay?

Fremantle Sailing Club's approximately 500-pen marina occupies about the area illustrated in this picture.
