Do you know any
sympathetic lawyers who might be prepared to do pro bono work on this matter? Please let us know if you do
-
As a matter of urgency
please Sign the Online
Petition
(if you haven’t already signed online, or a paper version). Even though there is a public comment period of a sort we
want to put pressure on for a better deal on this as required under the Act so PLEASE sign now and urge others to sign
it. We will close it on 20th Feb. and will advise you about arrangements to deliver the petition.
-
Press the Minister’s
Button. If you have already done it please do it again
and tell her that the public comment period is better than nothing, but not good enough. Ask her to extend it by a month
and advertise it properly as required by the Act and assure us that the comments received will be analysed and the
results made public. Open
the Media Release New
hotel unveiled for Rottnest Island, go
to the bottom of the page, and click on the button that says 'Comment'
-
Continue to spread
the word: send this email on, talk about it to anybody you
can, urge others to sign the petition.
-
Phone, email or SMS Howard Sattler on Radio 6PR (his
programme is called ‘Drive’ from 4.00-6.00pm weekdays) and urge him to talk about any of the issues raised here THIS
WEEK. It is important that these issues are brought into the public arena and they will only do it if they think
enough people are interested. Please help us. You can refer them to the
issues and
questions here and tell them you would like to hear from the Miinister, the Chairman of the RIA and from the
Rottnest Society.
-
Phone the ABC
and tell them you would like Eoin Cameron and Geoff Hutchison to talk about some of these issues on their programmes. As
for Sattler above.
-
Write to the Premier
and ask any of the questions raised here. Likewise the Minister for Tourism, Sheila McHale, and your local
member.
-
Choose any of the
questions and write a letter to the editor of your community newspaper – apart from coastal communities the local
papers won’t cover Rottnest issues when we send out press releases but a letter to the editor might get published. The
more the better.
-
Write a letter to the
editor of ‘The West Australian’ – they are not giving this
a very good airing so let them know that there are a lot of us out there who want to know about Rottnest. Again the more
the better.
-
Encourage others
to do any of the above if they are serious about Rottnest.
